<title>"First Show" - 26 May 2005</title>
<description>My first show back! This recording includes the tail end of the preceding timeslot with Don shor, readings, music by Margie Adam, and Lois' invitation to listeners. (Unfortunately, the station was not regularly saving my show at the beginning, so this is a poor quality recording captured off a noisy radio.)</description>

<title>"Covell Village: Basics" - Lois interviews City staff, 25 August 2005</title>

<itunes:subtitle>Lois interviews City staff (Katherine Hess & Bill Emlin), 25 August 2005</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Lois interviews City staff (Katherine Hess & Bill Emlin) about the current state of things in Davis. These questions were used to better understand the definitions of terms (such as: "level of service"), the status of our infrastructure (such as: Can we cross the railroad tracks at Anderson? Do we have enough wastewater capacity?), our state and county obligations, and the City's policies regarding growth. They also clarified what, exactly, the "Measure X" vote does and does not do. And described what developments must do to meet Davis codes. All this is background for listeners to better understand the pros and cons regarding the Covell Village project -- which will be covered in future podcasts.</itunes:summary>

<title>Lois talks about birding in Davis in the winter, 10 November 2005</title>
<description>Birding in Davis in the winter is my favorite sport! Setting up a feeding station for our winter visitors is easy - - and so rewarding. Did you know some birds migrate up-and-down instead of north-and-south? It's true! Lois shares some tips for attracting wintering birds to the backyard, and tell us what we might expect to see there. She also describe how to get to nearby locations where we can see the swans, geese, ibis, and many other shorebirds and waterfowl that 'winter' here in Yolo County.

<title>Lois interviews Mary Schiedt, 1 December 2005</title>
<description>Mary Schiedt is a birding expert who has been a long-time member and officer of the Yolo Audubon Society, worked with the people managing the wetlands in the bypass, and helped researchers in many ways -- from 'banding' migratory birds to surveying particular places. Today she tells us about the "Christmas Bird Count" (CBC) research which has been going on over 100 years. The Yolo Audubon Society is seeking volunteers to help with its CBC, a one-day event to count all the birds in a 'count circle' is near Winters. (The same area is counted each year mid-December so that researchers will have good annual comparison data.) Dozens of Davis residents volunteer to help, and newcomers are always welcome. Many other CBCs happen in Northern California; Mary will tell us when and where.
