Gophers' wintertubes

Pocket gophers make tunnels in snow and frequently use these snow tunnels as a place to deposit excavated soil, as it is more convenient than trying to form soil mounds under a snowpack. Once the snow melts these earthen gopher-cores only last until the first rains.
