Overgrazing = worst elephant threat

Not harvesting the excess African elephants in Amboseli National Park (Kenya) is rapidly causing the destruction of all trees that are palatable to elephants. This permanently reduces the carrying capacity of this habitat for elephants. The principal threat African elephants now face is not from poachers but from habitat loss caused by the overpopulation of elephants and human encroachment.
