Malaysian Leaches |

Much of our path was also alive with hungry leeches. By looking closely I could actually see tiny quarter-inch leeches in the trail waving about, hoping to attach themselves to animals (us). Many leeches did succeed in capturing all of us except Betty, who wisely used a repellent around her ankles and the top of her shoes. For the rest of us, when we undressed our socks and ankles were a bloody sight and it wasn't fun plucking off the engorged critters.
