Out of Place = Into Trouble

This is a 6-month-old brush-tailed possum. The species was unfortunately introduced into New Zealand from Australia as a potential fur resource. They, along with other introduced mammals, especially red deer, have greatly damaged New Zealand's native forests, even completely eliminating some species of large trees and bushes from their national parks and forests. They also transmit tuberculosis to dairy cattle.
