Howdy on a mountain trip

In 1935, I backpacked about 200 miles high in the Sierra Nevada with Boyd Walker. "Light" packs were unknown. Sleeping bags were of kapok, not down; aluminum utensils did not exist; and the only dehydrated food were potatoes and onions. We took bacon, lots of sugar, pancake mix, and ate trout every day.
